Total fire ban for Goldfields

AAP, The West Australian December 28, 2012, 7:47 pm

A total fire ban is in place for parts of the Goldfields Midlands.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says the total fire ban applies for the Shire of Laverton and the Shire of Menzies and runs for 24 hours to midnight on Saturday.

The ban means people must not light or use any fires in the open air, including at camping sites, or carry out any hot work, including metal work, grinding, welding and soldering, or any other activities that may start a fire.

Any breach is punishable with a fine of up to $25,000 or jail of up to 12 months or both.
