Update: A desperate police search for a missing two-year-old West Australian girl has ended in tragedy after her body was found by police divers.

The girl was crabbing with her family underneath the Mandurah Estuary Bridge south of Perth when police were notified about 8pm that she had fallen into the water.

A wide search included three boats from the water police and Sea Search and Rescue, while police officers patrolled the shore.

The police dive squad also was called in.

Sgt Peter Bahen said police had been inundated with people eager to help after they had heard about the missing girl on social media.

The girl’s body was found about 1am.
