Update: Major Crime Squad Detectives and Broome Detectives are investigating a “violent and tragic” homicide of a 27-year-old Broome man this morning.
Police were called to a unit around 8.35am on Forrest Street and found the man deceased on the back porch with multiple stab wounds.
A 38-year-old woman believed to be an occupant at the man’s house, has been arrested but no charges have been laid.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Baddock said St John Ambulance volunteers were called to the house where they found the man and attempted to revive him but he died at the scene.
Det. Sen. Sgt. Baddock said the man and woman had allegedly been at Kennedy Hill – an Aboriginal housing estate in Broome last night.
He said the incident was not connected to the drug operation conducted in Broome last week, but was in the vicinity of some of the addresses of interest to police during the investigation.
Specialists from the Forensic Crime Scene unit would fly to Broome today to assist detectives with the investigation.Police are seeking information from the public and would like to hear from anyone who can give information who may have been in the area of Forrest Street this morning.
