Man charged after meat cleaver attack

A man accused of using a meat cleaver to damage the windscreen of a vehicle and kicking the driver’s door of another will face court later this month.

Police have charged the 21-year-old Lockridge man following an investigation into two separate incidents in Morley on Thursday.

It is alleged that a man driving on Crimea Street had stopped at the intersection of Walter Road East when a man exited the vehicle in front of him and approached carrying a meat cleaver.

The accused struck the windscreen of the vehicle, causing significant damage, before getting back in his car and driving away.

It will be further alleged a short time later the same man stopped his car on Morley Drive to approach the vehicle behind him and kicked the driver’s door causing damage.

Morley Police yesterday arrested the at his home and have since charged him with going armed to cause fear and two counts of damage. He will appear in court later this month.
