Fresh from winning her place in The X Factor's grand finale on Tuesday, Morley-raised singer Samantha Jade was treated to a rock-star reception when she arrived yesterday to perform at Whitford City Shopping Centre.
Hordes of screaming fans greeted her as she arrived almost 45 minutes late in a black Chrysler limousine with her mentor Guy Sebastian.
Jade said she was overwhelmed by the near-1000 crowd turnout.
"I'm so lucky to have this response, it's crazy," she said.
"I was saying to Guy in the car, 'I hope people are going to show up'.
"I'm pinching myself a bit."
An upbeat Jade hoped her one-day visit would help drum up more local support when she contests the 2012 title next week.
"I'm going to do my best and represent my home city of Perth and yeah, hope to do well," she said.
Though the competition has proved to be a popularity battle for Jade, who was the only top 12 contestant to be in the bottom two places three times, the self-proclaimed "fighter" relentlessly pushed on to give strong performances each week and gradually built up a fan base.
Sebastian acknowledged that it had been a tough ride for Jade since she entered the top 12, but was hoped viewers would get behind her next week.
"I feel for her, the poor thing, she just scraped through," he said.
"Being in the bottom two three times, that's ridiculous.
"I'm just so proud of her, not only as mentor and a friend, but also as a performer."
Boosting Jade's hopes, her Monday night rendition of Kanye West's Heartless topped No.1 on the iTunes songs chart this week.
Online bookmaker Sportsbet says she has emerged the odds-on favourite to win.
As of yesterday afternoon, Jade was leading the betting stakes at $2, closely trailed by super group The Collective at $2.10.
Dubbo teenager Jason Owen was the least favourite of the three to win, with betting odds at $6.Jade will perform for the last time on Monday before The X Factor winner is announced on Tuesday.
