A police dog tracked down a 17-year-old girl allegedly responsible for a burglary in St James yesterday afternoon.

Police allege the girl broke into a home on Humphrey Street about 4.30pm, setting off an alarm.

The girl reportedly left the house wearing jewellery and carrying other stolen items and tried to hide on a nearby property.

Police dog Geoffrey was deployed and tracked down the teenager.

The girl has been charged with burglary and is due to appear in Perth Children's Court on November 22.
