Man charged over Bunbury roundabout crash

A Bunbury man has been charged after the car he was driving hit a roundabout curb and crashed overnight.

Bunbury police Sgt Robina Raabe said officers had tried to stop the Mitsubishi Lancer, which was travelling at excessive speed, about 10.40pm but the driver accelerated away.

Police followed the vehicle as the driver entered the roundabout. They say the car was travelling too fast and that it hit a curb and clipped a traffic light before crashing.

There were four people in the vehicle but none was seriously injured.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s, was arrested and has been charged with reckless driving, driving without a licence, failing to stop and driving an unregistered vehicle.

It is understood the car was fitted with false plates.
