This year the Channel 7 and _The West Australian _Christmas Pageant will return to its traditional timeslot and light up the streets of Perth at night.
For its 41st year, the pageant is expected to be more spectacular than ever and will take a new route from the corner of St Georges Terrace and Barrack Street.
In recent years, the pageant has been on Sunday mornings to make it easier for families with young children.
Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the city welcomed the pageant's return to a Saturday night and had applied for extended trading to help make it a great night out with plenty of colour and excitement.
The pageant is possible because of a Lotterywest grant.
Lotterywest chairman John Atkins said it was an important event to bring families together.
He thanked all those who buy tickets for helping the organisation celebrate the Christmas spirit. The pageant, which is supported by Lotterywest, the City of Perth and the RAC, will begin at 7.30pm on December 15.
