A notorious paedophile who has admitted stabbing a mother as she cared for her sick infant was caught with pictures of children during a search of his prison cell last year.
A former prison officer contacted _The West Australian _to reveal details of the disturbing find after Bradley Pen Dragon pleaded guilty to aggravated armed assault with intent to rob.
That charge related to an August 7 incident in which the 52-year-old ambushed a woman as she was securing her 11-month-old daughter into the back of the family car outside Mercy Hospital in Mt Lawley.
Pen Dragon was released in May after serving 34 months for possessing child pornography.
Cherie McFadden was a security officer at Acacia Prison until February and said she was involved in a search of Pen Dragon's cell late last year. Ms McFadden said the images of "little girls" appeared to have been taken from a magazine. She completed an incident report on the instructions of her shift manager. It is unlikely the discovery would have affected Pen Dragon's release because he had completed the maximum sentence imposed over eight counts of possessing child pornography in August 2010.
