Mandurah, SW warned of strong winds

Staff reporter, The West Australian October 2, 2012, 4:06 pm

WA's south is being urged to brace for damaging wind gusts up to 125km/h tonight.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning this afternoon for people south-west of a line from Mandurah to Albany.

The warning includes Bridgetown, Busselton, Bunbury, Margaret River and Mandurah.

The Bureau says a deep low will pass through the areas and could cause significant damage to homes and property.

The strong wind gusts are expected to develop near the south-west Capes from 8pm and extend to Mandurah and Walpole at about 11pm.

The Bureau says coastal areas a likely to see the worst of the weather.

Conditions are forecast to ease by tomorrow morning and are "typical for this time of year", according to the Bureau.
