Car hits freight train at Stratton

Phoebe Wearne, The West Australian September 25, 2012, 7:34 am

A car crashed into a freight train after it smashed through boom gates in Perth's eastern suburbs overnight.

A Brookfield Rail spokeswoman said the car crashed into the side of the train at a railway crossing near the intersection of Toodyay Road and Roe Highway at Stratton about 10pm after it failed to stop when the boom gates were down.

Neither the driver of the car or the train was injured.

Police are investigating.
