Teens in machete robbery

Phoebe Wearne, The West Australian September 18, 2012, 8:49 am

Two men were threatened with a machete and robbed as they tried to jumpstart a car at a Mirrabooka shopping centre last night.

A police spokesman said the men were approached by two teenagers in the Mirrabooka Square shopping centre car park about 8.45pm.

Following a verbal altercation, one of the boys produced a large machete.

The offenders demanded the two men hand over cash and their mobile phones and they complied.

The boys were aged between 15 and 18 and of African appearance.

Police believe the offenders were involved in an earlier incident at a nearby fast food restaurant where staff members were threatened by two boys who fit the same description and were brandishing the same weapon.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
