Police have named the man whose body was found in a Fremantle laneway yesterday.

The body of Randall Lee Duncan, 32, was found yesterday morning by a passerby slumped in an alley off Collie Street with severe injuries consistent with a serious assault.

He was dead before police arrived, but his time of death remains unclear.

Police believe he frequented the Fremantle area, and was of no fixed address.

Detectives are calling for public help with information about Mr Duncan's movements in the lead up to the suspected homicide, or anyone who saw anything suspicious Tuesday night or early yesterday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
