Fashion designer and karate champion Jessica Bratich Johnson will soon be able to add another feather to her cap - she will become a mother in December.
Bratich Johnson, who is married to Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson, discovered she was pregnant with the couple's first child the night before her handbag line Jessica Bratich showed at Perth Fashion Week in April.
"I just knew," she said. "I knew my body and that was only at five weeks. I just knew straight away."
Bratich Johnson is now 22 weeks pregnant. The happy couple have decided to keep the baby's sex to themselves, but have done little to keep their joy a secret.
"I'm just really excited, I think Mitch is going to be a really good dad," Bratich Johnson said.
The 30-year-old said she had been keeping an album of scans for her husband who has been away on tour in England for the past few months playing with the Australia A team.
"He was here for the initial scans which was nice, but obviously he's missed the most recent ones. It's a bit sad because you'd like to have your partner there for that - it's a special moment between you," she said.
The expectant mum said her husband of 15 months would be present at the child's birth in December - just days before her own 31st birthday - but his cricket commitments would have to remain a priority for the family. She still, however, has her mind on work, saying that her collection may soon include another angle. "People have been asking me about baby bags so I think that'll be one of my projects," she said.
