UPDATE 9.45am: It is understood arson squad investigators believe they have found the remains of a 53-year-old man in his fire-ravaged Youngs Siding home.

Investigators are at the Knapp Street property, near Albany, and are still trying to determine what caused yesterday morning’s ferocious blaze.

Police had been unable to contact the 53-year-old resident after the fire.

An initial search by firefighters had not found any remains but there were fears the intensity of the fire had incinerated the man.
