Man charged over Mosman Park death

UPDATE 10.10am: A Padbury man has been charged over the death of 31-year-old Damien Noakes in a Mosman Park house fire last month.

Phillip John, 28, appeared in the East Perth Magistrates Court this morning charged with murder and criminal damage by fire.

Mr Noakes' body was found in the burnt out Gibbons Street unit about 4.30pm on June 28.

It is alleged Mr Noakes was murdered on June 27 and the following day the accused set the property alight.

In court this morning Mr John, dressed in police-issue blue overalls, nodded several times but remained silent throughout his brief appearance.

Mr John was remanded in custody to appear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on July 25.
