Man charged over fatal crash

A 23-year-old South Perth man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and drink driving after a crash in March which killed his 30-year-old passenger.

Police say the two men were travelling in a green Audi along Herdsman Parade near Jukes Way about 1.30am on March 3, when the car left the road and collided with a tree.

Firefighters freed the trapped men, and both were taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 30-year-old died in hospital from injuries in the crash.

The 23-year-old driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm, driving with a blood-alcohol level in excess of 0.05 per cent and driving without a licence.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court on July 17.
