Wanneroo recycling plant fire closes roads

A fire burning at a biosolids plant in Nowergup has closed roads in the area.

A bushfire advice has been issued for people in Wesco Road, Gibbs Road, Wattle Avenue West and Dayrell Road in Nowergup and Neerabup in the City of Wanneroo.

There are three fires burning at Nowergup Biosolids Facility.

The fires, which started at about 11pm, are contained to one pile of logs and two mulch piles.

There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke .

Wesco Road is closed between Gibbs Road and Old Yanchep Road.

Motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.

Winds are strong and erratic and there is a risk of ember attack which could lead to a bushfire.
