Motorists travelling on North West Coastal Highway are being warned of smoke from several fires burning in the area affecting visibility.
FESA says people travelling near the Mardathuna turnoff, about 50km north of Carnarvon, should take “extreme caution” when driving through the smoke.
The small fires were started by lightning strikes on Boolathana Station.
Volunteer Bush Fire Service, DEC firefighters, pastoralists and private contractors are monitoring the area.
Motorists are advised to turn their headlights on, drive slowly, keep a look out for fighters, follow directions given by emergency service personnel and pull over if they cannot see clearly.
