Hunt for man after bottle attack

PHOEBE WEARNE, The West Australian February 17, 2012, 12:14 pm

Police are looking for a man allegedly involved in an incident in which a Warnbro father had a bottle thrown at him and sustained severe facial lacerations.

Terry O’Brien, 48, was at his Currie Street home with his wife and two children about 10pm on Sunday when two men broke in, smashing a sliding door glass panel to reach through the hole and steal property from a nearby table.

As Mr O’Brien tried to stop them, one of the burglars threw a bottle through a gap in the door which struck him in the head.

Two burglars and a third person fled the house empty-handed.

One offender returned to the home shortly afterwards to threaten the victim with a bottle.

Mr O’Brien was taken to Rockingham Hospital and later transferred to Royal Perth Hospital where he had surgery.

Rockingham detectives want to speak to 18-year-old Frederick Woods and believe he can help with their investigation.

Mr Woods is Aboriginal and about 170cm tall with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows Mr Woods’ location is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
