City staff evacuated due to gas leak

Employees and customers are being evacuated from a food store in the Perth CBD due to a gas leak.

Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to City Provisions on Hay Street, near the corner of Shafto Lane, about 1.30pm after gas started leaking from a fridge.

A FESA spokesperson said an officer was trying to determine what type of gas was involved in the leak and whether it could pose a threat to life.

CAT buses have been re-routed around the affected area.
