Update, 5.20pm Firefighters say a blaze near homes at Mosman Park is under control.
The fire started at about 3.05pm at Stirling Highway and Wellington Street.
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority says the fire moved close to housing but there was no threat to homes.
FESA has issued the all clear for people near Buckland Hill Reserve.
Three fire crews and a helitac attended the fire. At 3.30pm firefighters said they were slowly bringing the fire under control.
Stirling Highway has been reopened in both directions but motorists are being advised to avoid the area due to a heavy build up of traffic.
The fire burnt about 10 hectares. The cause of the fire is unknown.
