Man injured in police Taser strike

A man has been taken to hospital after being tasered by police in Karrinyup last night.

The man was spotted by members of the public about 11pm carrying two knives near the intersection of Main Street and Karrinyup Road, a police spokeswoman.

Police arrived on the scene and told him to drop the blades.

He then became aggressive towards the officers, the spokeswoman said.

He was tasered once by one of the officers.

He sustained minor injuries at some point during the incident, she said.

She could not confirm the nature of the injuries, but said they were minor.

The man was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment.

He has been charged with being armed in a way to cause fear.
