Explosion at bush drug lab

Tayissa Barone, The West Australian February 7, 2012, 6:29 am

Police discovered a clandestine bush drug laboratory yesterday after it exploded and caused a small scrub fire south-east of Perth.

Department of Environment and Conservation firefighters were called yesterday afternoon after smoke was spotted coming from bush in Karrakup, near Byford.

It is understood no one was at the drug lab at the time of the explosion.

Police said damaged items and drug paraphernalia were found at the site, including two small bottles of an unknown brown liquid, a big gas cylinder, a blender and white crystals dumped on a log.
