Man killed in ski boat accident

Update, 6pm A man has been killed and another is seriously injured in a ski tubing accident on the Swan River.

Both were taken to Royal Perth Hospital after the accident near the Windan Bridge at about 4pm.

One of the men has died as a result of the accident.

Inspector Barry Mann said as a ski boat driven by a 28-year-old turned as it headed down the river, the ski tube swung out and slammed into the marker.

The boat was carrying four men.

A second boat brought the critically ill man to shore.

Friends and onlookers desperately performed CPR on the badly injured man until emergency service crews arrived.

The injured man is in Royal Perth Hospital where his conditions is still being assessed.

Water Police, the Department of Transport and local police are investigating the death.
