Teens charged over front-end loader 'joy ride'

Two teenagers have been charged after they allegedly stole a front end loader and took it for a joy ride on the beach in the South West.

Police claim the pair, aged 17 and 18, stole the vehicle from Norton Promenade, Dalyellup, where it was parked because of roadworks.

The front end loader was later discovered at Peppermint Grove Beach after a man fishing noticed someone driving the vehicle on the sand about 11.30pm.

A police spokesman said the $250,000 front end loader suffered extensive salt and electrical damage and the damage bill was expected to run into the thousands.
