The Play Max distinguishes itself by being a simultaneous dual-band modem/router with fast internal routing speed. Sadly, due to some extremely poor design decisions, high cost and being bogged down by software that runs on the PC rather than the router itself, the Play Max cannot be recommended.

The Good: Fast internal routing speed allows faster gigabit Ethernet to wireless 5GHz speeds • Simultaneous dual-band • Dual USB ports.
The Bad: A design truly worthy of sticking in a cupboard • Lacking status lights for quick diagnosis • No power button, "reset" button only • Pricey • Power hungry • Restarts the router when wireless changes are made • No spaces allowed in SSID.
