Paul Hogan: Australia's most eligible bachelor
He’s a national icon and a comic genius, and now Paul Hogan has gained another title: Australia’s most eligible bachelor.
In a revealing interview with Sunday Night’s Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Paul laughs off his single status.
“Are you looking for love again?” Kerri-Anne asked.
“No, but you know, I’m not rejecting it either,” he joked.
Paul has been divorced three times: two times from his first wife, Noelene, and once in 2014 from his Crocodile Dundee co-star, Linda Kozlowski.
“Okay, I’m the villain, I did it. I left one wife for another and now I’ve left her,” Paul said.
“I didn’t want to hurt anybody, I didn’t want to cause them any grief. I want them to feel like, ‘oh thank God he’s out of my life!’”
Paul said his relationship with Linda had broken down over several years.
“It was simply a case of opposites attract and we attracted and we were terrific and loved each other,” Paul told Kerri-Anne.
“And then one day you wake up and you’re just opposites. We’d slowly drifted apart over the years.
In December last year, at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Paul was presented with one of the highest honours in the Australian film industry – the Longford Lyell Award for lifetime achievement.
Paul said he was enjoying being single but wasn’t wedded it to it.
“At that actor thing, there were some stunning looking women. I could have a look at them, but I thought… I’m just a dirty old man now!” he joked.
Paul lives in Los Angeles with his son, 18-year-old Chance. He’s a single dad and is enjoying fatherhood more than ever.
“I loved it. Always did. There’s just a strange innocence about them. And having my own tribe… it was great. Never regretted that for a second.”
