Katy Perry fights back

Katy Perry wrote her latest number one hit Roar, a self-empowerment anthem, from the heart. 18 months ago, this arena-filling pop star was at her lowest ebb – lost and going through a very public divorce with comedian Russell Brand, who infamously ended their marriage via text message.

In this exclusive interview with Sunday Night, Katy opens up about fighting her way back from those lows with a brand new positive attitude, showcased on her stunning new album Prism. But as Marie Claire editor Jackie Frank found, Katy closely guards her private life nowadays.

It makes sense that she chooses her words carefully, because when Katy Perry speaks, the world listens. With two huge albums and a revealing tour documentary under her belt, Perry now has over 45 million Twitter followers and counting – second only to Justin Bieber. Her previous album, Teenage Dream, was only the second in history after Michael Jackson’s Bad to spawn five number one singles – and Prism looks set to repeat the success, with Roar already clocking up seven weeks atop the ARIA charts.

As well as Roar, Prism features the hits Walking On Air & Dark Horse and is out on October 25. Pre-order now from these great retailers:
