Once a year, Valparaiso hosts the world’s most dangerous, exciting and mind-blowing bike race, the Valparaiso Cerro Abajo.

It’s become a tradition in the Chilean port city, attracting daredevil riders from across the world – and spectators keen to watch the thrills and spills as cyclists careen through steep downhill streets at breakneck speed.

This year, Sunday Night followed an Australian rider to Valparaiso as he competed for the very first time. What he found, and what our cameras captured, will leave you shaking your head in disbelief - and shaking with fear.
