1. The Sun Princess owned by Carnival Cruises

Carnival Australia operates during the Australian summer cruise season between September 21 through to April 15. This year the Sun Princess is based in Brisbane for the first time ever and the last visiting international ship, will be the Sea Princess, leaving Sydney.

Carnival Australia alone will have 19 ships sailing Australian waters this season – the largest number ever. Eleven of those 19 ships will actually be based in Australia over the summer, the other eight are visiting as part of World cruises.

In addition, Carnival Australia now operates six ships year round in Australia (two Princess, four P&O) and will add a seventh in October 2012 with the arrival of Carnival Spirit.

2. The Voyager of The Seas owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises

This summer season, October 2011 to April 2012, 40 ships will visit Sydney. Thirteen will be based here for the full season the others will visit as part of World Cruises. Three of these ships are Royal Caribbean ships.

Next cruising season, October 2012 to April 2013, 36 ships will visit Australia, 14 based in Sydney for the full season; four will be Royal Caribbean
