A store attendant has had a knife held to his throat in a terrifying hold-up in North Adelaide.

Police say a man entered the Melbourne St shop armed with a knife just before 10pm last night and threatened the victim.

The suspect stole cash and an iPad, and also punched the victim in the face before leaving and walking east along Melbourne St.

The victim did not require medical treatment.

It was one of four soft-target hold-ups in Adelaide in the past 48 hours.
