Professor Carla Rinaldi is South Australia's newest Thinker in Residence, an expert in early childhood education, she urges parents to actively get involved with their child's learning.
"Early education is the best investment that a community and society can do," she told 7News.
"The children can help parents be better parents, and educators to be better educators."
Professor Rinaldi is the President of Reggio Children, a renown organisation based on the techniques used by parents in the villages around Reggio Emilia in Italy, after World War II.
The techniques used focused on children when it came to rebuilding their towns, teaching a curriculum based on what the children themselves are most interested in.
Professor Rinaldi will hold a public lecture at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday March 27, to discuss teaching methods in Australia.
