Man guilty over grabbing woman on backside

A man who grabbed a woman on the backside at a McDonald's restaurant before telling her if she didn't like it, she shouldn't dress like a slut, has pleaded guilty to public nuisance in a Brisbane court.

Senior-Sergeant Mark Gorton said 22-year-old Theron Alan Thomas Turner of Regents Park grabbed the woman on the bottom at 4:30am in Fortitude Valley, The Courier Mail reports.

He said, after the woman objected to her bum being touched, the man told her she shouldn't dress like a slut.

The incident was recorded on CCTV, with Senior-Sergeant Gorton saying the defendant continued to be disrespectful to the woman and her friends.

The man, who works three jobs as a tree lopper, security guard and steel worker, was supported by his mother during proceedings.

Defence lawyer Laura Rouse said Mr Turner had been out drinking with a mate but did not remember the incident.

"He recalls going to McDonald's then his next recollection is being locked up," she said.

A conviction was recorded despite Ms Rouse saying her client's job as a security guard could be impacted.

"What you did constitutes an assault," Magistrate Linda Bradford-Morgan said before imposing 16 hours of community service on the defendant.
