Like all great karaoke enthusiasts, not quite knowing the words hasn't stopped Kevin Rudd from belting out a bit of Carly Rae Jepsen.

As is often the case when Prime Minister Julia Gillard is out of the country, the backbencher was out and about this weekend making himself heard.

Attending the 'Ruddyrollin' barefoot bowls event with young voters in his electorate, Mr Rudd, beer in hand, was bailed up by a constituent to sing Call Me Maybe.

The result isn't likely to win a Grammy Award, but K-Rudd probably has his eyes on a different prize.
