A logging truck driver has been killed after his truck, laden with logs, rolled down a bank in the North Island's Kaingaroa Forest.

The accident was reported on a minor road in the forest, west of Murupara, just before 10am on Tuesday, a police northern communications spokesman said.

Another truck driver saw the wreckage of the truck about 25 metres down a bank.
