Sixty years of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and Japan will be marked on Sunday when Foreign Minister Murray McCully visits Tokyo.
He's meeting counterpart Koichiro Gemba and other senior ministers to discuss defence, regional economic and security issues and development co-operation in the Pacific.
While he's in Tokyo Mr McCully will announce a 60th anniversary scholarship for a rugby player or coach from the tsunami-affected Tohoku region.
