John Schluter

John Schluter joined the Seven News team in December 2006.

Schluter began his media career in 1972 at Radio 4GL in Longreach as a breakfast announcer.

From Longreach he moved to Mt Isa, then to Toowoomba and on to Brisbane — all with the Colour Radio Network.

In Brisbane, John pursued his radio career with both 4BK and 4KQ. At different stages he worked every shift from breakfast, morning, afternoon and drive-time.

In 1982 John moved into television, joining Channel Nine Queensland as its station announcer, and shortly after was appointed National Nine News weather presenter.

John is a keen environmentalist and gardener, and has even released two books of everyday environmental tips, Back to Basics and 1001 Greener Household Hints.

John plays an active role with environmental groups and makes regular guest speaking appearances throughout the state.

Now semi-retired John is able to spend more time enjoying the weather. While he no longer presents the weather for 7 News, he presents 7 News’ Flashback segment each Sunday night and also fronts Seven’s Saving the Planet initiative.

He now lives on the Sunshine Coast with wife Chris.
