Johanna Griggs

Johanna Griggs presents the 6pm weekend sports bulletin for Seven News in Sydney.

As a former world-class swimmer, Johanna's passion for sport is only natural.

She was just 16 when selected for the Auckland Commonwealth Games, where she won bronze in the 100m backstroke. Johanna went on to also win a silver medal in the medley relay at the 1991 World Championships in Perth and was the first Australian female swimmer to break the 30-second barrier in the 50m backstroke.

After announcing her retirement from swimming in May 1993, Johanna joined Channel Seven. She reported for shows such as Sportsworld and hosted The AFL Half Time Show. In 1994 and 1995, she hosted Seven's Summer Of Tennis for the first time and worked as a commentator and presenter on the 1994 World Swimming Championships from Rome.
Later that year Johanna presented the weekend sports news and then became Seven's first national female (and youngest ever) sports presenter.
After taking time out to care for her two sons, she returned to television in 1998. Johanna became a regular panellist on Foxtel's Beauty and the Beast and a guest on ABC TV's sports panel show, The Fat and Good News Week.
Johanna re-joined Channel Seven in 2000 and together with Andrew Daddo, hosted Olympic Sunrise during the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Since then, she has helped steer several sporting events for the network including the Medibank International tennis, Australian Open tennis, Melbourne Cup Carnival, World Gymnastics Championships, Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Iron Man Series, 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics, 2006 Torino Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics.
From 2001 to 2006, Johanna also hosted Australia's longest-running sports program, Sportsworld and presented home show Auction Squad for two years.
She has hosted the country's number one lifestyle series, Better Homes and Gardens, since 2004.
In 2009, after previously acting as a fill-in presenter for the Seven News' weekend sports bulletin, she took on the role full-time.
