Shane Webcke

Former Brisbane Bronco and rugby league great, Shane Webcke presents sport on 7 News.

Known for over a decade as one of the game's premier front-row forwards, Shane provides expert commentary on rugby league as well being part of the sports team of 7 News.

Growing up in the small town of Leyburn, Shane says as a kid he was never blessed with a natural ability to play football but with hard work and dedication he became the benchmark for the game's toughest players.

Universally admired and respected by rivals and team-mates alike, Shane has played for the Broncos, his state and his country in 254 first grade games, 21 State of Origins and 20 test matches respectively.

Shane hung up his boots with a fairytale finish, winning his fourth premiership with the Broncos.

The 7 News sports team, which consists of Pat Welsh, Shane Webcke, Ben Davis and Rohan Welsh continues to be south east Queensland's favourite in 2008.
