John Schluter

John Schluter is the weather presenter for Seven News in Queensland. He joined the 7 News team in December 2006.

He also presents Flashback, a segment on Seven News every Sunday Night which explores Queensland's History.

John began his media career in 1972 at Radio 4GL in Longreach as a breakfast announcer.

From Longreach he moved to Mt Isa, then to Toowoomba and onto Brisbane - all with the Colour Radio Network.

In Brisbane, John pursued his radio career with both 4BK and 4KQ. At different stages he worked every shift from breakfast, morning and afternoon to drive-time shifts.

In 1982 John moved into television, joining Channel Nine Queensland as its station announcer and shortly after was appointed National Nine News weather presenter.

John is a keen environmentalist and gardener, and as a result of huge public demand for helpful everyday environmental tips, John has released two books, Back to Basics and 1001 Greener Household Hints.

John plays an active role with environmental groups and makes regular guest speaking appearances throughout the state.

John is also an integral part of Channel Seven's sponsorship of Brisbane's Riverfestival. This year he is the face of Riverfestival's "Greening our City", an extension of the successful water awareness program which ran throughout last year.

John is married to Chris Collins and has one son, Ben.
