Pat Welsh

Seven News sports reporter and presenter Pat Welsh is one of Australia's leading sports journalists and commentators, with more than 30 years' experience.

Pat is best known for his all round sporting knowledge and presenting prowess. His extensive experience includes Olympic Games, rugby league, rugby union, AFL horse racing and golfing commentaries, and has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States for the Seven Network. He has covered several tours across a variety of codes.

He is a familiar face at golfing tournaments, where he earned the nickname "Whispering" Pat Welsh for his hushed, on-course style and has covered the US Open and British Open golf tournaments and the President's Cup for Seven Sport.

He was part of the Seven team at the Barcelona and Atlanta Olympic Games and introduced Australians to the delights of the bobsleigh and luge events at the Winter Olympic Games in Nagano in 1998 and Salt Lake City in 2002.

The Sydney 2000 Olympic Games saw Pat reporting trackside at the athletics and at the weightlifting, which for the first time featured female competitors.

Then in 2004 Pat was again poolside & trackside in Athens sharing the Olympic competitors swimming, athletic and personal achievements.

Pat was also a part of the broadcast team for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin.

He is now preparing for Seven's coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
