Sharyn Ghidella

Respected news anchor and journalist Sharyn Ghidella joined the newsroom at Channel Seven Brisbane in February 2007.

After 15 years in Sydney, the Queensland born newsreader returned home to Brisbane to join the 7 News team as the weekend presenter.

Sharyn, originally from Babinda, started her career in north Queensland and then moved to Ten's newsroom in Brisbane before joining Channel Nine News in Sydney.

With over 20 years experience in the industry, Sharyn also worked as a reporter and producer and spent many years presenting the inflight news bulletins for Qantas.

She has also anchored network coverage of major events such as the Iraq war, Cyclone Larry and Steve Irwin's memorial.

In 2001, Sharyn became the newsreader on the Today Show when Ian Ross left to join Seven.

Sharyn has done extensive work for many charities and has also been called upon to host various events and functions, gaining a reputation as a professional and highly competent MC, capable of handling all subjects and situations.

In April 2007, Sharyn took on another new role, mum to Austin Braydon.
