Chris comes from a family background steeped in sporting achievements. The Dittmar family name is well known in the Port Adelaide area.
Chris's father played for Port Adelaide Football Club, his Uncle Wally played for Port Adelaide Football Club and represented South Australia in State of Origin Football, and another uncle, Len, was crowned the Australian Welter Weight Boxing Champion in the 1950s.
Sport is in his blood, so it only seemed right that Chris would exceed at his chosen sport, squash, which he started playing professionally at the age of 6.
He travelled the world for 15 years, spending time based in England and South Australia.
Chris was the captain of the Australian team, who were world champions from 1989 to 1992.
In 1987 and 1989 Chris was named South Australian Sports Star of the Year.
After a series of knee operations, Chris decided to retire in 1993 and returned home to Adelaide.
When he retired from squash Chris was ranked number one in the world.
Chris has been with Channel 7 Adelaide since 1995 as a regular sports presenter.
The 2000 Sydney Olympic Games saw Chris take on a full time commentary role for the Seven Network. His sporting knowledge was increased dramatically as he commentated Beach Volleyball, Taekwondo, Kayaking, and Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Chris was part of Seven's AFL commentary team, as well as the 2005 and 2006 Australian Open Tennis commentary team.
Chris was thrilled to be announced as the new host of local travel and lifestyle program Discover last year.
In 2005 Chris was entered into the Squash Hall of Fame.
Chris has two sons, Tom and Jack.
