Graeme Goodings became the newsreader for Adelaide's Channel 7 in 1983.
Having started his career as a panel operator at 3AQ Melbourne, Graeme's first on-air appearance happened on Christmas morning, 1967.
The scheduled announcer called in sick and there was no one to replace him. So Graeme stepped in and after hosting that three hour shift the station management asked him to read the weekend News Bulletins.
In 1969, Graeme commenced his first full-time announcing position with 7LA (Launceston) Tasmania. After two years he was given a job back at 3AW as a general announcer on the evening shift and producing the late evening talk program.
An offer to join 5DN Adelaide as a full-time newsreader followed, along with a move into journalism.
After five solid years combining radio and television, Graeme decided it was time to take a break and left the industry to go into the Health Food business in Tasmania.
But the appeal of media was too firmly entrenched, and he took up a position at TNT Channel 9 in Launceston as a copy writer and commercial producer - then into the newsroom as a reader and journalist.
During this time, TNT 9 produced a live Saturday night program, "The Saturday Night Show". As well as co-hosting and producing, Graeme wrote and performed regular comedy segments.
In the second year of production it won a Logie in Tasmania for the best live variety show. It was also the first time a non-capital city television channel picked up such an award.
Next came a job offer at SAS in Adelaide as a senior reporter. Two years later Graeme became sports editor and on-camera presenter and in 1983 he was appointed newsreader.
In March 2001 Graeme was asked to take on the role of Club Ambassador for the Adelaide Football Club.
Graeme is currently the Weekend Newsreader for Seven News.
Graeme is married to Eve and has two sons, William, 22 and Samuel, 18, and a daughter, Eliiahn, 13.
