Rick Ardon

Channel Seven Perth news presenter Rick Ardon was born in Perth on March 4th, 1959.

Rick first joined TVW in 1978 as a news journalist, but quickly moved to the position of News Presenter.

Rick had previously started as a journalist with The West Australian newspaper and received the Selwyn Prior Award for W.A. Cadet of the Year.

Since he began with TVW 29 years ago, Rick has won ten Logie Awards as WA's Most Popular TV Personality.

Rick attributes a large part of his success to the fact he had a good grounding in news as an on-the-road reporter.

His coverage of major events for Channel Seven has ranged from the Gulf conflict in the Middle East to the Amrozi trial in Bali, as well as the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival.

Another recent major event Rick covered was the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. There he presented the news live from Homebush Stadium, keeping Western Australians up to date with the progress of WA, Australian and world athletes. He also presented night-time bulletins to a nationwide audience from the Olympics.

Rick has written and produced three documentaries that have aired on Channel Seven - Lives in the Balance, a look at the heroic efforts to save 114 whales stranded on our south coast; Riviera Rich and Raunchy, on the glamour of the south of France and a third documentary he filmed and produced while on holiday in the Pacific.

Rick, his wife and children now reside near the beach in Perth so that he is never too far from his favourite pastime - surfing.

Rick has played Australian Rules Football for 37 years and enjoys frequent trips to the south west of WA for its lovely beaches, quality wines and magnificent scenery.
