Rob Gell combines television weather presenting with active campaigning for the environment.
He began his television career in 1979 when he joined Eyewitness News to present the nightly weather forecast, revolutionising the way weather information was presented with "Rob Gell's Four Day Forecast".
Moving to the Nine Network in 1988, Rob continued to produce and present news weather bulletins, before joining the Seven News weekend team in 2004.
He has strong ties with the scientific and conservation communities and assists many schools, communities, charities and environmental groups with projects and presentations.
Rob's company, "Access Environmental Pty Ltd" helps companies increase business success through innovative environmentally sustainable strategies.
For 10 years, Rob served as a Victorian Councillor of the Australian Conservation Foundation. In 1998, he was invited to become an inaugural member of the Fellow of the Environment Institute of Australia. He has served as a Councillor of the City of Doncaster and Templestowe and was Chairman of the Variety Club of Victoria for four years.
He is currently president of Greening Australia Victoria, Chairman of the Mornington Peninsula and Westernport Biosphere Reserve Foundation and a member of the Victorian Coastal Council.
Rob was recently appointed Environment Ambassador to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and is in his fifth year as an Australia Day Ambassador for Victoria.
He has written two books, produced four documentaries and competed in two Sydney to Hobart yacht races. Rob is a keen golfer, scuba diver and skier and dedicates time to personal fitness.
