While the competition is called the National Rugby League, the Australian side is actually run by the Australian Rugby League which also owns the Origin series.
The New South Wales Rugby League is somewhere in the mix as is the New South Wales Country Rugby league.
The NRL has two Boards, its own and one that represents the "Partnership" which apparently, depending on who you ask, is the one that wields the power.
Of course the ARL has its own board as do the other entities.
That is a brief snapshot of the upper levels of the administration of the game in NSW and Nationally, but trust me , there are many tiers beneath that.
Queensland then has its own various administrations, as do all other states.
Of course there are some quality people involved in all levels of all states but the problem lies in the detail.
Consider the money that is consumed to keep it all going. Naturally not all levels need to be done away with, but certainly change is required.
Surely its time for the game of Rugby League to completely overhaul its administration and put an end to the seemingly aimless wanderings of the game.
The various divisions need to be consolidated to take us into the future under one banner with a united strong direction.
If there is a real difference between League and AFL, its not in the entertainment that we provide, rather it is in the AFL's strong administration which leaves ours shamefully wanting.
There should immediately be an independent audit of all levels of administration and a new streamlined model adopted.
The other deficiencies in the game cannot be addressed until this occurs.

The problem with rugby league is that it is a extremely boring and predictable game to watch , requiring even less talent or skill to play. You could completely streamline the administration, employ only professional people to overlook it's affairs, but at the end of the day it's still a below par product. And before any of you neanderthals tell me to go back to Victoria, I was born, bred and still reside in Brisbane. I just appreciate good football

Oct 25 06:28 pmAs an outsiders, I can see how games won't last. Shane was a league player & he knows what goes on. NRL's bad cultures & unprofessionalism are digging the grave for the games. Players are only good on the field but off field they aren't. Australians love sports & look up to the players. If their heroes can get away with drugs & bad behaviours, of course, we'd think it's acceptable. For example; Drug cheats are always drug cheats & shouldn't be held as
Oct 28 06:32 pmYears ago I loved going to the Rugby League games, but since the Superleague war, this spectator lost interest, the game has become tediously predictable, 1,2,3,4,5 kick etc ad infinitum. The scrums are a joke, the bloody "trainers" come on field frequently with coach's instructions, it's a joke. As for AFL...keep it in Melbourne please ! Hope Soccer captures the Australian imagination !
Nov 1 10:36 amOh yes.....and the overpaid neandertals who currently play 1st Grade.....that's another story......how many times have the newspapers reported on an NRL player being involved in some off-field antic, a bar fight, an assault, drugs, the list goes on. These blokes should be brought back to the real world, get a proper job, learn some life skills and by all means play Rugby League as semi-professionals.
