Bloody boring

The first week of the campaign is over. And the word that best sums it up so far is. Boring. No make that two words. Bloody Boring.

Apart from some silly singing and dancing by opposition leader Lawrence Springborg the most exciting thing to happen was... No that was it.

Anna Bligh wants to make this Queensland election about the economy. She sure as eggs wouldn't want anyone to focus on Labor's record on health.

Last Thursday the Queensland Health Minister, Stephen Robertson, and his Director General Mick Reid held a media conference.

They were responding to a damming report that found serious flaws in health and safety surrounding the alleged rape of a nurse on Mabuiag Island in February 2008.

Shortly afterwards an audit found 100 health department homes had high or extreme safety risks.

Mr Robertson ordered they all be fixed.

So nine months later, at Thursday's media conference, I asked the minister if all the accommodation had been repaired. Mr Reid said he "presumed so". Both promised to get back to me to confirm that.

After not hearing anything for 24 hours, I rang the minister's office.

The media secretary apologised and said she would have someone ring me back.

24 hours after that I rang the same media person and once again I received an apology and a promise that someone would get back to me.

I'm glad I'm not sick.

For those of you interested in the Premier's son's chocolate ganash recipe.. one of the media minders has promised to get back to me.
