Queensland's most powerful woman is doing battle with the state's wealthiest man.
Clive Palmer is suing Anna Bligh for $1,000,000 and wants her to apologise for suggesting he's "bought" the Liberal National Party, but she won't back down.
(Mr Palmer donated $550,000 dollars to the Liberal and National Parties last financial year.)
Hostilities are in danger of getting out of control.
Now he's called her a lightweight among other things.
"I'm the victim of the case, she's got the Queensland Government, the Treasury Department, the Attorney Generals Department - all aimed against one citizen because I want to express a view."
"And that view is that she shouldn't be Premier. She should resign today. She's a disgrace."
And he denied that his financial clout gives him any undue influence in the party.
"Of course I've got influence; I'm a member of the party. It's not an afternoon tea party you know, you join because you think you've got ideas and policies."
It all spells unnecessary problems for parliamentary leader Lawrence Springborg in this election year.
The ‘Borg' has spent a great deal of time and energy crafting the image that he's in charge of a cohesive team...
Mr Palmer's outbursts don't do him any favours. His outspoken views, legal action against the premier, and rants about having influence in the party, have dominated the political news cycles for five days.
But how do you tell the man with the big cheque book to pull his head in?
Oh and he also says Mr Springborg isn't a charismatic leader.
Thanks for nothing Mr Palmer.
